I don't claim to have an answer, but what we do see now in so many countries is the result of over a decade of neo-liberalism. For years, they have made the rich richer and the poor poorer. Promises have been broken time after time. The one thing we all can do is at least to let your voice be heard: go and vote.

I agree entirely. My thoughts before writing that piece had included that but my viscerality led me off down the racism route.
